Is seeking a

FRONT END TECHNICIAN/MECHANIC

Job Summary

Responsible for performing repairs and maintenance on passenger cars, vans and light trucks, including (but not limited to) tune-ups, brake work, suspension, oil change, transmission, clutch work and air conditioning repair. Perform tire changing functions from time to time. Prefer ability to perform alignment functions as well.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
  • - Read and comprehend work orders.
  • - Follow all policies and procedures for mechanics and those outlined in the Lex Brodie’s Handbook and Safety Manual.
  • - Examine vehicles to determine extent of damage or malfunctions.
  • - Test drive vehicles, and test components and systems, to diagnose and recommend resolutions to customers concerns or complaints; then be capable to perform those repairs.
  • - Follow checklists to ensure all important parts are examined, including (but not limited to) belts, hoses, steering systems, spark plugs, brake and fuel systems, wheel bearings, and other potentially troublesome areas.
  • - Plan work procedures, using charts, technical manuals, computer programs, and experience.
  • - Test and adjust repaired systems to meet manufacturers' performance specifications.
  • - Confer with sales staff or customers to obtain descriptions of vehicle problems, and to discuss work to be performed and future repair requirements.
  • - Perform routine and scheduled maintenance services such as oil changes, lubrications, and tune-ups.
  • - Disassemble units and inspect parts for wear, using micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
  • - Raise vehicles using hydraulic jacks and vehicle lifts.
  • - Keep work area and stores clean and organized.
  • - Always look and act in a professional way.
  • - Cross train in as many other areas as possible.
  • - Enforce all rules and best management practices for handling hazardous materials.
  • - Enforce all safety rules and policies.
  • - Work as a team with all other employees.
  • - Constantly learn to keep up with Industry standards.
  • - Follow Lex Brodie’s Customer Bill of Rights
  • - Report to work as scheduled
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:
  • - Mechanical — Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance.
  • - Computers and Electronics — Demonstrate basic computer skills and able to use shop or self supplied electronic diagnostic equipment.
  • - Troubleshooting — Able to understand symptoms and complaints as described by customers or sales staff and then diagnose the issue or concern.
  • - Repairing — Safely using hoist and required tools to perform required repairs and maintenance.
  • - Customer Service — Knowledge of principles and processes for providing great customer service. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction. Great attitude, great work ethic, and strong people skills are vital!
  • - Active Listening — Give full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • - Reading Comprehension — Understand written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.
  • - Speaking — Talk to others to convey information effectively.
  • - Writing – ability to write clearly so that others can understand
  • - Equipment Maintenance — Perform routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
  • - Critical Thinking — Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • - Service Orientation — Actively looking for ways to help people.
  • - Manual Dexterity — The ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.
  • - Trunk Strength — The ability to use your abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time without 'giving out' or fatiguing.
  • - Extent Flexibility — The ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs.
  • - Static Strength — The ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects.
  • - Near Vision — The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED.

ASE Certification in suspension and brakes preferred (required for promotions)

Current driver’s license with acceptable driving abstract.

Minimum 2 years hands-on experience in alignment, front end and brake repair in a commercial or retail outlet.

Set of tools and tool box to perform majority of repairs provided by Lex Brodie’s Tire Company.
